Happy Thanksgiving!

We are celebrating Thanksgiving at My Sheri Crafts! This is the first time in a while that I have been off for Thanksgiving. I am thankful for that alone. I made a card for my little boy to send to his Grandma. I used the sentiment from Holiday Tags. The paper is from last year's fall paper pack from Close To My Heart, Pathfinding. I added some cork circles from Pathfinding Assortment, and a strip of Chocolate Paper Fundamentals in a houndstooth pattern (retired). I could not resist adding some bling with Sequins Gold Assortment.

It's Turkey Time!

Where did time go? We are celebrating an early Thanksgiving at My Sheri Crafts. There is so much to be grateful in life, despite life's challenges. I look back through the years and I feel blessed, surrounded by the people that I love.

I made a two-page layout using Pathfinding paper packet from Close To My Heart. The format is from Reflections Scrapbook Program. I added some Pathfinding Complements, and Sequins Gold Assortment for sparkle. The turkey was cut from the Artiste Cartridge using Scaredy Cat paper packet! at 2 1/2".

Happy Thanksgiving from My Sheri Crafts!

I made a card for our Fall/Thanksgiving celebration at My Sheri Crafts.  I colored using Copic markers a funny stamp from the clearance bin at Hobby Lobby.  The designer paper is from Basic Grey and Prima.  I added feathers, a Prima flower, white enamel accents and a border punched with a Martha Stewart punch to finish off the card.

Happy Native American Day!

Native American Day is celebrated every fourth Friday of September.  I made a fall-themed card for my DT project for My Sheri Crafts.  The stamp was bought off e-bay.  I colored the image using Copic markers.  The designer paper is from Basic Grey and Prima.  I added frames cut using Spellbinders and a border using a Martha Stewart punch.  I added some feathers, a Prima flower, stickers from Webster's Pages and white Enamel Accents for my embellishments.

Thanksgiving Card For My Sheri Crafts

There are so many things in life to be thankful for-- our families, good friends, good health, etc.  Our theme for this challenge at My Sheri Crafts is to make a project or a card to show thanks.  I recently met my husband's favorite aunt, and her warmth, sweetness and generosity all those years when my husband was growing were reasons to be thankful for, and this card is for her.

I used my Cricut to cut the 3" frame from Lacy Labels.  The font is from Plantin' Schoolbook, cut at 1/2".  The paper is from DCWV's Once Upon A Time and the cardstock is from Bazzill.  I added a border punched using a Martha Stewart punch and added Stickles and gold pearls using a Viva Decor Pearl pen for more sparkle.

Wizard Of Oz Scarecrow

My mother-in-law loves scarecrows and she always has one for Halloween, so I decided to make this card for her.  It's Mother-in-law Day on the 28th of this month, and our design team theme is to make a card using fall colors and three embellishments.  I used cardstock from Core'dinations' Graphic 45 line, sanded it, added strips of paper from Me And My Big Ideas and a scarecrow image from Graphic 45's The Magic Of Oz.  My three embellishments were: crinkle ribbon, a Prima flower and a feather that I used as a leaf.

It's Picking Time!

Our fall theme at My Sheri Crafts is all about apple picking and spending time at pumpkin patches.  I decided to go with the pumpkin theme.  I made a criss-cross card using the tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers.  I used paper from an older paper pack from Me And My Big Ideas and made a dangle charm using beads from Michael's.  The satin ribbon is from Hobby Lobby.  I embossed the inside portion of the criss-cross card using the Pumpkin Harvest Cuttlebug folder.  The smaller card is topped with a pumpkin-colored rose from Recollections.

Turkey and Pumpkin Cards

Okay, I admit. I went a little crazy and made a few more turkeys from my Create A Critter cartridge. It's my favorite turkey among all the turkeys that Cricut has. He is "fairest of them all", so to speak. :-D I used paper from My Mind's Eye for my cards. The cardstock is from Core'dinations. The oval pumpkin was scraplifted from some fabulous ladies in the Cricut MB. I had seen Michelle make some in the past, and I loved them, so I made some too. :-D The scalloped pumpkin is something that I have seen before in the Spellbinder's website. I folded four scalloped ovals in half, and glued the sides together to make a pumpkin. The labels are from Spellbinders and sentiments are computer-generated.

I used sketches from RAQ's Challenge as my inspiration for these cards.

Exploding Gift Box, Tea Light and Card

I made this exploding gift box as an alternative to a traditional gift box or bag. To make this, I used 3 12x12 cardstock (I used a single color; you can also use coordinating colors) and 3 12x12 designer paper. For the largest box, I scored a 12x12 cardstock at 4" three times. The second cardstock measured 10 1/2" x 10 1/2". I scored it at 3 1/2" three times. The third cardstock measured 9"x9". I scored this at 3" three times to make the smallest box. I trimmed the three cardstocks, removing the excess cardstock that will not be part of the boxes. It looked like this when I was done:



I scored the 12x12 desgner paper at 4", 3 1/2" and 3" and cut squares to cover the sides of the three boxes. I used paper from MAMBI.



I then glued to insides of the smallest box images from A Child's Year. They were cut at 2 1/2", except for the turkey which was cut at 2".



For a memory box, I would've added pictures, sayings, tags, etc. But I kept it simple for this exploding box because I meant to use it as a gift box. I scored a cream-colored cardstock at 4 1/4", with a 1/2" allowance for the sides. I then cut the tabs and glued them together.



The box top was embellished with die cuts made using Nestabilities pendants and Core'dinations cardstock.


The sides were also decorated using Nestabilities pendants and Core'dinations cardstock. The punch for the border of the box top is from Martha Stewart. Ribbon is from Seasons.



I had two different designs for the sides of the box.



I made a card using the scraps to go with the gift box. It's actually the recipient's birthday.



For the tealight holder, I used an 8 1/4"x 2 1/2 piece of cardstock. I scored it at 2" four times, then at 1/4". The 1/4" flap is for securing the ends with glue.



I made windows using Nestabilities Labels 4 and covered it with vellum paper. The die cut images were cut at 2". The turkey was cut at 1 1/2". I made the images face the ones that I glued on the smallest box.

Traditional Version

Here is the traditional version of the Thanksgiving Card, same clip art. I used a reversible satin bow from Seasons, and the leaf brad is from The Paper Studio. The lace is from Making Memories.

Nontraditional Thanksgiving Card

For this week's Color Challenge at Cricut.com, we were supposed to use rust, yellow and purple. I love this clip art and decided to use it on my card. I used flowers instead of leaves for my embellishments. The clip art is from Mixed Holiday A.T.C. Collection, and the flowers are from The Paper Studio. I used the Argyle embossing folder for the background. This card was fast and easy to do.

Cricut Cards

I made all three of these cards today, and it was so much fun making them. Granted it took forever because the glue and ink had to dry. For the first sketch, I colored the stamp using Jo-ann's markers which I layered and swished around, so I would have a gradation of color. The key to the colors not muddying up is to use complementary and NOT contrasting colors. Otherwise, you'll have brown all over, e.g. orange+blue= brown, etc. I stamped the border, then traced it with a glue pen and applied flower soft for texture. The maple leaf is from A Child's Year cartridge.





For the second card, I used the bell from Christmas Solutions cartridge. I colored the bell with gold ink. I applied clear embossing ink as soon as the first layer of ink dried, then sprinkled it with embossing powder. The "ribbon" was cardstock that I had embossed, then accented with Stickles.




I used the cartridge "A Child's Year" for the third card. I colored the cut with stickles. I reverse embossed the circle, and embossed the upper half of the card. I stamped hearts on the paper for the sentiment, which was a computer printout.
