Hi! Welcome to another challenge here at My Sheri Crafts! Today, for our challenge hosted by design team sister Sandy, we are required to make a masculine project. I am still pocket letter-obsessed, so here's my Tim Holtz version. I used sprays from Tim Holtz, Lindy's and Heidi Swapp to come up with the mixed media background. All stamps and embellishments are also from Tim Holtz.
We would love for you to share your projects with us at My Sheri Crafts. Come join the fun!

Distressed Valentine Post Card
I played with some Tim Holtz techniques when making this postcard. I used spritz and sprays from Tim Holtz, Smooch and Lindsay's to make the background paper. I also added a damask design to the side using a Tim Holtz stencil and some texture paste. What's amazing is that I did not do anything to the paste after it dried. Somehow, some of the spray from the paper under it must have seeped through and colored it, which was a nice surprise. "Love" was stamped using Archival Black Ink and a Tim Holtz stamp. I also sprayed the grunge board heart with some red Smooch and Tim Holtz spray, and added a lock. All embellishments are from Tim Holtz.
I am also entering this postcard to the following blog challenges:

Stitch Time!
Sue from our DT at My Sheri Crafts challenged us with a sewing inspired project this time around. I made three "feminized Tim Holtz" tags using Tim Holtz stamps and Sizzix dies. The designer paper is from Melody Ross for GCD Studios. I used the resist technique for the background, with the exception of the third tag. The lace is from Charlotte, the ribbon is from The Paper Studio and the trim is from a Cricut Message Board swap. I added Baker's twine and crystals from Recollections for added bling.

Day Twelve Of A Nontraditional Christmas
The directive for "Twelve drummers drumming" was to create a project using music sheet. I made some notecards for my Secret Sister. The cameo images are from the Heritage Cricut cartridge, cut at 2". The music sheet for the notecards is from GCD Studio's Paris Nights paper line, while the one used for the bag is from Tim Holtz. I added flatback pearls, Viva Decor Pearl pen faux pearls, yellow mini pompom trim, and a die cut from Spellbinder's Fleur-de-Lis pendant die.
Day 11 Of A Nontraditional Christmas
The directive for "Eleven pipers piping", was to buy some trim or make an embellishment using trim. I opted for the latter. I wanted a more interesting presentation than just stuffing the trim into a bag, so I cut some dressforms from grungeboard using a Tim Holtz die, sprayed them with Glimmer Mist and stamped on them using some Tim Holtz stamps; after which I wound the trim around the dressforms.

Day Two Of The Nontraditional Christmas Swap
The second day talks about "two turtledoves", and my Secret Sister loves her family and Tim Holtz, so I decided to combine both for this day. The embellies are a mix of Tim Holtz products, Making Memories and Etsy finds. The grosgrain ribbon has velcro at the back, so it would be easier for it to maintain its shape and it will allow room for bulk when pics get added.
I made this wallet mini album using vanilladaze's tutorial.

Kaisercraft Bookend Drawers
I altered this bookend drawers using paper from Tim Holtz's Lost and Found paper pack. I stamped it with various Tim Holtz stamps, applied Claudine Hellmuth's Multi Medium on the ledger paper and added tissue tape along the edges. I painted the interior of the drawers with acrylic dabbers in Espresso. I all inking were done using Cat's Eye inks from ColorBox.

More Halloween Cards
I made a couple more cards for Halloween; one of them is for (DH) Billy's aunt and the other one is for his Grandma. I used paper from Graphic 45's Hallowe'en in Wonderland. I used images from http://vintageholidaycrafts.com/category/halloween/.
This card measures 5"x7". The button is from Tim Holtz. Baker's twine and a beaded trim complete the look.

I used Prima flowers and buttons from Dress It Up for this A2 sized card.

Celebrating Mardi Gras!
Mardi Gras falls on the 8th of March this year. We are feeling very festive at My Sheri Crafts and decided...hey, we need to chase the winter blues away and celebrate! I was inspired by the French Quarter when I made this card, hence the fleur-de-lis theme and the Gothic colors. I was thrilled to find that fabric trim with the iridescent beads in my stash. It reminded me of the beads they give away during the Mardi Gras festivities.

I sprayed some Tim Holtz Paper with Lindy's Stamp Gang Mists and cut off the fleur-de-lis die cuts using my Spellbinders dies. The border punches are from EK Success and Martha Stewart. The gold eyelets are from Making Memories. The black designer paper is from DCWV's Mariposa stack. The center fleur-de-lis was pop dotted to add more dimension.

Altered Spice Jars and Shiny Flowers
The other themes for the swap were "Glass" and "Shiny". I had some spice jars lying around and I just printed out the words "Got Trim", cut it out using my Spellbinders die, and covered it with paper and tissue tape from Tim Holtz. The design was kept simple since I wanted the focus to be on the pretty blue trim I filled them up with. I was thinking that this would also make good gift containers for scrappers who love buttons, brads, skittles, etc.

For "Shiny", I made this box using K&CO's Handmade paper line. The film strip, ticket, and the paper with the vintage prints are from Tim Holtz. The flowers are from Prima.

To achieve the shiny effect on the grunge roses, I first applied a layer of Pink Tutu Glimmer Glam, then I inked the edges with pink Cat's Eye. I dipped the roses in melted clear ultra thick embossing enamel. I used a heat gun to get rid of the air bubbles.

Shimmery Tags
Our theme for this week at My Sheri Crafts is "Misted". I altered some shipping tags using sprays and stains from Lindy's Stamp Gang. I did a resist technique by embossing the background with clear embossing powder, then layering the mists and stains on top of the design.

I used the Chandeliers stamp from Inkadinkado for the image. I added Stickles and Liquid Pearls to make the image pop. The flourishes are from Tim Holtz, which I covered with clear embossing ink, applied embossing powder, then heat-set it.

I colored some white flowers from Petaloo and Recollections with sprays and stains from Lindy's Stamp Gang, then added Stickles along the edges. The butterfly was colored using Lindy's Magical Mica. The pearls and crystals were from The Paper Studio.

The lace and the crystal brads that I used here were from my stash. The keyhole and key were from Tim Holtz's grunge elements. The stamped image was from Inkadinkado.

Altered Picture Frame
I absolutely love altering the dollar frames that they sell at Michael's. I used Aleene's tacky glue to adhere the scored paper to the frame. The embellishments are from Tim Holtz's Idea-ology line and a $0.50 paperclip I found at the clearance bin at Office Max. :-D Cat's Eye Ink from ColorBox was used to ink around the edges.

My Version of Tim Holtz's Curio Cabinet

I went to Tim Holtz's class last Sunday. The project was for a curio cabinet http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/05/the-artful-curio.html. I do not necessarily subscribe to the darker colors, so I made my own modifications. My theme colors were peach, coral and sunset orange. I also highlighted the edges inside the cabinet with copper-colored ink from ColorBox. I know, I cheated and used some non-Ranger products, but hey...for opaque inking, nothing compares to ColorBox inks. The hands and the knob kept on falling off--so I just used Gorilla Glue for them.

The title of this piece is "Fractured Love".

Spontaneous ideas were encouraged during the class, but I wanted to create something that would have special meaning to hubby and I, hence the choice of paper and trinkets. His favorite number is 7 and mine is 8, and there are several 3s in the projects, since I was born on March 30th. Tim gave us free rein over the little treasures he had on the huge table, but I opted to use some embellishments from my stash--the Art Nouveau Fairy, the miniature medallions, flowers(grunge rose and Primas), and the crystal squirrel.

I filled the bottle up with half a dropper of Worn Lipstick, mixed with water. Vanilla is supposed to be an aphrodisiac, so I labeled it as such. :-) The cigar label is just for a touch of color.

At the back of the cabinet is a piece of bingo card with the numbers 74 and 75--he was born in '74 and I on '75. I was also lucky to get hold of a music book page with my favorite song in it, "Hosea". There is a vintage picture of a couple and a map. I absolutely love the page from a vintage French journal that I incorporated into the mix. The whole cabinet was inked using Victorian Velvet, Barn Door, Aged Mahogany, Antique Linen and Vintage Photo.

Of course, I used a piece of paper with a cat in it.

I used Tim Holtz's tissue tape for the edges of the box.

Steampunk Inspired Jewelry
My earliest memories include watching Victorian and other period movies with my mom. She had the penchant of dressing me up in frilly outfits and granny boots. I also remembered playing with quaint household gadgetry like wine decanters with musical boxes and brass cigarette dispensers, which my family had collected through the years. I was raised the Steampunk way without even being aware of it. :-)
My friend Kimi told me today that they had the Industrial Chic line of jewelry pieces available at Michael's. She gave me the link, and I knew I had to get some of them to add to my collection. So here are what I came up with...

Both necklaces are 18" long. The necklace on the left has spinners and gears from Tim Holtz, and the cameo is from Madame Delphine. I made the necklace on the right for hubby. He was the one who taught me to play dominoes, hence the choice of pendant. He also picked the muse token as a dangler for the pendant.

Tattered Florals Grunge Roses
I made these roses following the directions from Tim Holtz's tutorial in his blog. I used the Tattered Florals die on grunge paper. I wanted a faint shade of pink with a hint of cream, and some striations on the petals. To achieve this effect, I colored the grunge paper with two coats of white acrylic paint. I applied an antiquing solution to it after the paint dried. I then brushed it with Viva Pink Glimmer mist. I wanted a little more shine, so I applied a thin layer of Bronze Perfect Pearls to the flowers.

I wanted to achieve a glassy look to the flowers, so I dipped the roses on a melting pot filled with clear Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel.

This Week's Cards
This has been a very productive week for me, craft-wise. I was able to finish two baby wordbooks, make the project for the Design Team's blog, and of course, make all four cards for RAQ's Challenge. Sue is this week's host, and here are the sketches with my own interpretations. The added challenge for the cards are to use the colors red, white and blue, have a patriotic theme and to use scraps.

I kept my patriotic cards fairly simple. The tag is from Spellbinders. I used the Stars Cuttlebug embossing folder. The rounded flag image is from Independence Day mini cartridge, cut at 2 1/2". The flowers are from Prima and the red crystals are from The Paper Studio.

I used the scraps that I had from my Mother's Day Design Team project for this card. The paper is from Basic Grey. The stamp used is from Tim Holtz, stamped using Spun Sugar Distressed Ink and Moss Green ColorBox Ink. I used skittles to make the image pop some more. I wanted a very subtle effect for the image, hence the very low color contrast. The ribbon is from Offray and Prima flowers were used. The faux stitching on the tag is a rub-on from DCWV.

The cut is also from the Independence Day cartridge and measures 2 1/2". Ribbon is from Offray and the labels for the sentiment are from Spellbinders.

I used the colors from the Ad Challenge for this card.

I had to "make" my own paper for this card. I used alcohol inks in the following colors: Wild Plum, Butterscotch and Terracotta. The stamps that I used are from Hero Arts and JDL Stamps. Flower is from Prima. The background paper is from K&Co. The flourish is a die cut from Tim Holtz's Sizzix line. I embellished the upper and lower left hand corners with transparent stickers and Liquid Pearls.
