Vintage Patriotic Gatefold Album
Happy Birthday America! :-) It's in the sweltering 110s here and yes, I am scheduled to work tonight but hey--there is so much worth celebrating for! :-)
I made this album for a swap. My Secret Sister specified that she wanted a gatefold mini album, so I indulged her. :-) I used paper from My Mind's Eye, The Paper Studio and DCWV. For frames, I used dies from Tim Holtz and Spellbinders. The rosettes were made using Tim Holtz dies. Flourishes and roses are from Prima and the crystals were from Recollections. I also used lace from The Paper Studio. The album is made of chipboard since I wanted it to be sturdy.
Here's the link of the copyright-free site that I went to for the clip art I used for the tags: http://vintageholidaycrafts.com/patriotic-memorial-day-greeting-cards/.

Christmas in July...A Froebel Star Wreath
What do the 4th of July and Christmas have in common? Stars!!! I tried my hand at making a Froebel Star wreath. It took me quite a bit to figure it out successfully make a star without tearing the paper. I jokingly told my husband..."and I thought I was smart! lol!" You can give this wreath a try and don't be frustrated if you don't get it right with one try. Lighten up...it's just paper! :-D
Here is the link that I used to make this wreath: http://www.craftideas.info/html/german_star_wreath_c.html. You will need to make 8 stars to form the wreath. The tutorial can be found here: http://www.craftideas.info/html/german_star_instructions.html. I used strips of paper measuring 1"x25". It wasn't sparkly enough, so I misted the paper with Shimmerz Baby's Breath and brushed it with Ranger's Perfect Pearls--then I dotted some pearls at the center of the stars. I added tulle at the back to make it easier to hang the wreath.

I'm also sharing this project with the bloggers at http://decoratetocelebrate.blogspot.com/.

Fourth Of July Banner for My Sheri Crafts
This banner is my Design Team Project for My Sheri Crafts. The pennants measure 5"x7". The letters are from the StoryBook Cricut cartidge, cut at 3" and the star is from Plantin' Schoolbook, also cut at 3". I embossed the frames that I had cut using the Stars Cuttlebug folder. The rosettes were cut using Tim Holtz dies and I just added white buttons on the center. I used paper from The Paper Studio and baker's twine to complete the red, white and blue look.

Vintage Patriotic Card For My Sheri Crafts
I got the lovely vintage image from http://vintageholidaycrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/vintage-american-flag-lady-liberty1.jpg. I made an adaptation of the triangle tri-fold card. You can find the tutorial here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/triangle_trifold/. I decided to cut the triangle for the front part of the card and leave the other two sides square, so I will have more surfaces to embellish.
The designer papers are from The Paper Studio. The scalloped frame for the vintage clip art was made using a Spellbinders die. The bookplate was cut using a Tim Holtz die. Fore embellishments, I added crinkle ribbon, flourishes and crystals from Recollection, paper lace from K&Co and Prima flowers.

Pillow Boxes for Flag Day
June the 14th is just around the corner and guess what day it is? Flag Day! :-) For my project for My Sheri Crafts, I decided to make pillow boxes to hold small gift items. The pillow boxes came from the Easter cartridge, and I just hid the bunny cut using my Gypsy. I used Cat's Eye ink from ColorBox to ink the edges. The paper used are from The paper Studio and My Mind's Eye. I punched along the edges of the accent paper using Martha Stewart Stars punch. I used baker's twine to tuck the vintage images that I printed out from http://vintageholidaycrafts.com.
