RAQ's Cards

Whew! I finally managed to make all four cards for RAQ's Challenge this week. Sherri had some awesome sketches! Here they are:

I have been leaning towards the Baroque influence this week. The key and heart are from Spellbinders. I embossed the heart with textile textures and accented it and the key with black ink. The metallic gold paper is from The Paper Studio, while the Damask pattern paper is from DCWV. The crystals are from The Paper Studio and Say It In Crystals. The lace is from an old stash.

The second card is one of my favorites. The birds from the Home Decor cartridge were cut at 1 1/2", and embossed with D'vine Swirl. The background paper is from DCWV, embossed using Birds and Swirls cuttlebug folder. I used the Lace Doily border punch from Martha Stewart, and accented it with stickers from The Paper Studio. The corners were embellished using metal fan pendants.

The heart from Love Struck was cut at 1 1/2". The background paper is from DCWV. Rain dots and pearls were used to embellish the card. I also scored on it cardstock base to emphasize the graphic quality of the design.

While the influence for this card is anything but Baroque, I still love its simple, homey feel. For the fourth sketch, I used a stamped image and fiber that I received in one of my swaps. i colored the image using colored pencils. The background paper was embossed using Heart Blocks cuttlebug folder. The plaid paper is from DCWV. I used a pendant for my "love" sentiment.

All four cards measure 5"x5".

Heart Chipboard Album

I made this album using the heart at Plantin' Schoolbook, cut at 4 1/2". The papers are from MAMBI, DCWV and The Paper Studio. The chipboard was from Colorbok. I used the cuts from Love Struck, and some of the crystals, ribbons and lace that I had gotten from a recent swap for this album. Bind-It-All was used to keep the pages together.

I wanted to have an album to commemorate the important events in our lives-- birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I made pockets for journalling tags and for the movie tickets that we had accumulated over the years. I had the heart frames ready for our pictures.

I still have several pages left to embellish, but I am saving them for new memories and for the tickets to the other movies that we have yet to see. :-)

Winter Swap

This is the first swap that I joined. We were required to make:
3 cuts from our Cricut, layered and embellished
2 titles with layered and embellished coordinated cuts
2 journalling tags embellished 3 ways, and
1 extra item

For the box stuffers, we were supposed to send:
new brads/eyelets
1 Jolee's embellishment (any)
2 yards ribbon
2 chocolate/mints/gum

Here's what I got from DGirlLV.....I had to really stop myself from devouring the chocolates before taking the pic. lol!

I'm glad I joined the swap since the items that I got are not available over here. And yes, I do frequent the big three (Jo-Ann's, Michael's and Hobby Lobby) almost every week.

The snowflakes are from When It's Cold Outside, cut at 3" and 2 1/2". The background paper is from Martha Stewart Crafts. I layered the cuts on vellum paper. The scalloped circle is from Spellbinders. I used crystal brads and liquid pearls as embellishment.

The third cut is from A Child's Year, cut at 4 1/4". I could not resist drawing the details. I like giving the kids in A Child's Year a little personality and I'm sure most of us are a little curious on how they would really look like if they were real. I used colored pencils and metallic inks to color the images, and Stickles and flower soft for embellishment. I placed a crystal on the snowman's hat instead of a flower.

For the title cuts, I used my Winter Woodland cartridge. Frosty Kisses was cut at 2 1/2". I painted on the snowlady's hat with metallic ink, embellished it with flower soft and Stickles for the "dots".

Winter Fun was cut at 3". I drew the penguin's beak and colored him with chalk.

I sent three tags, two of which had 1" snowflake cuts from When It's Cold Outside, and the third tag had a penguin cut at 1" from Winter Wonderland. The stickers are from The Paper Studio. I embossed the background using the Snowflakes embossing folder. Ribbon is from Offray. The tags were from A Child's Year, cut at 4".

I had to take the ribbons off the spools when I mailed them since they would not fit in the box. I sent two packs of brads since I wasn't sure which one she would like better.

I had to make a substitution for the Jolee's sticker, since we have a sad lack of winter-themed stickers where I'm at. So I opted to send grilling-themed stickers to remind my swap sister that summer is not too far behind. I also sent her a card that she can use for her journalling on her pages. The tag is from Plantin' Schoolbook.

First Installment at RAQ's

I managed to make two cards for RAQ's this week. For the first sketch, I made a masculine card. I stamped the image on vellum paper before attaching in to a tan-colored cardstock. The stamp is from Tim Holtz. The gear is also from Tim Holtz and the brad is from The Paper Studio. The lace that I used on both cards were scraps from years back. I used Core'dinations cardstock embossed with Script Texture for the background.

I used my Love Struck cartridge for the Cupid, cut at 3". The squares were cut at 1 1/2" using Plantin' Schoolbook. Paper that was used for the square was from The Luxury Stack from DCWV.

Sketch 2 Cards

These cards are for the second sketch, made for another swap sister who's also a huge Twilight fan. I flipped the sketch for the Twilight card. "Kiss" is from Love Struck, cut at 1". I used liquid pearls for the border.

Here's the .jpg file of the sketch. Feel free to download and use it as a digital stamp, as long you don't crop the signature off. By the way, Robert Pattinson is fun to draw. :-)

I also made a mini card for a swap sister who will be celebrating her birthday by the time she will receive mail from me. The cardstock is actually from the Sweet Matstock, folded in half. The actual card measures 2 1/4"x 3 1/4". I call it a "cardette", if there is such term as that. lol! It could also be a good size for a gift tag. The cake slice is from Sweet treats, cut at 1 1/2". The ribbon is from Offray. I used Spellbinders for the frames and liquid pearls for the frame accent. The border punch is from Martha Stewart.

And Still More....

I managed to make two more cards for RAQ's Challenge last Tuesday. I used the Love Struck cartridge for both cards. Cupid was cut at 3", using Parchment Pink Cardstock and Ruby Text Jewel Metallic from ANW Crestwood. The ribbon is from KI Memories. The background paper is Heart Flower Stripes is from The Paper Studio. The heart brads are also from The Paper Studio. The edge punch is from The Paper Studio.

I cut the word "Love" at 1 ". The pink cardstock is from A&W Crestwood. The tag inside the heart pocket is from A Child's Year. I had cut it initially at 3", then had to trim it in order to fit in the pocket. The vellum heart is Thin Hearts from The Paper Studio. I had placed cardstock behind it to make it sturdier. Ribbon is from Offray. The sentiment tag and the scalloped hearts are from Spellbinders.

...And A Few More

I'm finally done with making cards for the swap. I might make a few more next week, so that I'd have a variety to pick from.

This card is no-cricut/CB. The cupid stamp is from Rootstamps, colored with chalks and pencils. I used gold metallic ink for his wings. The heart border punch is from The Paper Studio and the hearts were cut using Nestabilities. I stamped and embossed the heart die cuts with Pink Frost embossing powder, and shaded the areas with red metallic ink. I used Liquid Pearls to accent the heart border. The tag is from Spellbinders and the sentiment is computer generated. The heart brads are from The Paper Studio.

I made a lot of modifications for sketch 2, since my stamp image is a bit large.

The main paper is from Core'dinations, embossed using Textured Script embossing folder and sanded. The stamp that I used is Italian Rose from Hero Arts. The sentiment "Amore" is from the Jasmine cartridge. Nestabilities was used for the scalloped frame and Liquid Pearls for accent. The crystals are from Say It In Crystals.

I made a sketch for the third sketch (pun intended)...lol!

I sketched the image using an HB pencil. The frame is from Home Accents Solution, cut at 3 1/2". I used the leftover heart vellum paper from last week. Jasmine was used for the sentiment, cut at 1". I used Strawberry Ice Stickles and Liquid Pearls to accent the frame.

Here's a closer look at the star-crossed lovers.

More Valentine Cards

I almost did not make the challenge. Whew! Thank heavens for modern medicine and sleep and I am back to crafting! The doves from A Child's Year were cut at 2 1/2" using metallic paper. "LOVE", which is from Storybook was cut at 1". The ribbons are from Holiday Inspirations and Paper Trends and the black dotted paper is from Paris Nights from GCD Studios. The heart brads are from The Paper Studio. The vellum heart paper is "Thin Hearts" from DCWV.

"Love" was cut at 1/2" and covered with Stickles in the second card. The border was punched using The Paper Studio and the flowers are dimensional stickers from Cloud 9 Design. The Rain Dots are also from Cloud 9.

I made a lot of modifications in the card for the third sketch. The sentiment is computer generated. Snow White was cut at 3" and colored with markers, metallic inks and chalks. The ribbons are from Offray and KI Memories. The background paper is from DCWV.
