12 Days Of Redneck Christmas, Part Two

7.) ON THE SEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS my true love gave to me... Seven packs of RedMan
Directive: Create a Project or Buy something in a Christmas theme, with the majority color being RED
*I altered a Tim Holtz Configuration Book by covering it with Tim Holtz's Merriment Paper, and Merriment Tissue Tape. I used some glittery paper to cut the die cut images from Tim Holtz. The frames in the cubbies were cut using Spellbinders dies. With the exception of the crystal swirl from Recollections, the rest of the embellishments are from Tim Holtz.

8.)ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS my true love gave to me... Eight table dancers
Directive: Create a Bookmark with a TASSEL; OR Create a project incorporating DANCER (the reindeer); OR Create or Buy a Christmas TABLE Decoration (made from wood, glass, paper, fabric, etc.)
*I made a red rose tree topped with a crocheted angel for this day. The roses were made using Ruby Cardstock from Close To My Heart, cut at 1 1/2", 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" using the Art Philosophy Cartridge.

9.)ON THE NINTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS my true love gave to me... Nine years probation
Directive: Create a “DRESSED TO THE NINES” project (ie. holiday dress form tag, paperdoll diecuts for LOs, something with lots of glitter, any idea festively dressed!)
*I knew that when I made this Art Nouveau Triptych that I was going to give it to Terri, since they're in her favorite colors. I finally had the chance this Christmas.
Here's the original post when I made it: http://peachypapercrafts.blogspot.com/2014/03/art-nouveau-triptych.html

10.)ON THE TENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS my true love gave to me...a Tin of Copenhagen
Directive: Fill an altered or embellished TIN (or other container) with your partner’s favorite treat
*I altered a tin from Joann's and filled it with Reese’s Peanut Butter Trees. I used paper and tissue tape from Tim Holtz's Merriment line(do you notice a pattern here? :-D), Some Gold Polka Dots Washi Tape from Close To My Heart, Gold Shimmer Trim, Sequins Gold Assortment, and on the lid, a Melissa Frances resin piece, a rosette that I made using a Tim Holtz Die, and ribbon from Tim Holtz.

11.) ON THE ELEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS my true love gave to me... Eleven wrestlin' tickets
Directive: Alter 2 Tim Holtz TICKET STRIPS; OR Create 2 Tags or Christmas Cards; OR Create a project or Buy something that incorporates a “TICKET Design”. (there are stamps in shape of tickets with verses, ticket diecuts, etc.)
*I made four Tim Holtz ticket strips using his die (yes, four because I don't know how to count :-D). I sprayed the ticked with some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays, let it dry, then I applied some Ranger Texture paste on some Tim Holtz stencils so I could have a raised design. I inked the pattern using the following Close To My Heart stamp pads: Ruby, New England Ivy, Topiary, Glacier, Outdoor Denim and Slate. I used the Christmas Post stamp set for the tickets. The poinsettias are from Prima flowers. I cut some snowflakes using Spellbinders dies and added some Sequins Silver Assortment for added sparkle.

12.) ON THE TWELFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS my true love gave to me...Twelve-pack of Bud
Directive: Create a project or Buy something to do with your partner's Favorite Drink; OR Create a project or Buy your partner a PACK of 12 or HALF A DOZEN of something (ie, 12 teabags or 6 packets of hot chocolate, 12 inches of ribbon or lace; 6 diecuts; 12 months in a year idea; a pack of some embellies that Contains 6 items; a paper pad with atleast 12 pages; a configuration box with 6 cubbies)
*I found the perfect alterable for this directive... a 7 Gypsies Receipt Holder with twelve clips! I just added some ATC-size paper from Tim Holtz's Merriment paper to serve as photo backing, and covered the clips with tissue tape from the Merriment line. I added some Tim Holtz ribbon and danglers along the chain.

...and that concludes the 12 Days Of Christmas crafting, and here's wishing you all a Prosperous and Healthy New Year!

12 Days Of Redneck Christmas Part 1

I joined the annual 12 Days Of Christmas Swap at the Cricut Message Board, and we have a fun theme this year! My days have been so busy, and although pics have been take a while back, I finally got the chance to post this before the year ends. Our family celebrates the 12 days of Christmas, so Christmas isn't officially over until the Feast Of The Three Kings.

So here's my take on the 12 Days Of Christmas, redneck style. ;-)

1.) ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS my true love gave to me... Some parts to a Mustang GT.
Directive: Create a project or Buy something incorporating a Sled and Santa; OR theme your idea around the word “PARTS”.
*I altered a papier mache container by wrapping it with Merriment paper and Merriemnt tissue tape from Tim Holtz. The text on the paper are words comprising "'Twas The Night Before Christmas". I added a glittery poinsettia and a doily which I cut using a Cherry Lynn die on top of the lid. Inside the container are various Tim Holtz goodies.

2.) ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS my true love gave to me...Two huntin' dogs
Directive: Create a project incorporating Christmas themed ANIMALS
I made some reindeer ornaments for my Secret Sister- 3 of them, one for every grandbaby. I used some Tim Holtz dies. The paper is from a retired DCWV Christmas paper pack, layered on grungeboard. I added some red noses using Liquid Pearls from Ranger, Silver Tinsel and some Pine Garland, both from Tim Holtz. I inked the edges of the three reindeer with Desert Sand and Chocolate Exclusive Inks Pad from Close To My Heart and some Copper Ink.

3.) ON THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS my true love gave to me... Three shotgun shells
Directive: Create a Christmas project incorporating seashells; OR this directive can be Maker’s Choice, no theme needed – for a special project or gift for your SS
*I made a beach house decorated for Christmas. It's actually a luminary from SVG cuts. The paper is from Close To My Heart's Seaside Paper pack. The font is cut from Holly And Ivy Cricut Cartridge. I added some New England Ivy "greenery" using Martha Stewart's Branch Punch. I made a wreath using shells from the Philippines to make the beach house more festive.

4.) ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS my true love gave to me... Four big mud tires
Directive: Create 4 round Gift Tags
*For this day, I decided to make a Christmas banner with four circles instead. I cut the shapes using my Pretty Pennants Cricut Cartridge. The centers were cut using Spellbinders dies. I used paper from Melissa Frances, and Ruby and New England Ivy Cardstock from Close To My Heart. I added some faux pearls along the scallops using Enamel Accent and some larger flatback pearls from Recollection on the pennants. The lace is from a DT sister.

5.)ON THE FIFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS my true love gave to me...Five flannel shirts
Directive: Create a project or Buy something incorporating FABRIC or FELT or BURLAP *My Secret Sister is a big snowman fan, so I made a snowman container with burlap bag inside (I also stamped it with a snowman, but I totally forgot to take a pic of it). Inside the burlap bag is a Tim Holtz spray. The snowman is from SVGCuts. I covered it with Diamond Dust in lieu of making the paper panels. I drew on his face with enamel paint. His scarf is a ribbon from Tim Holtz . I covered his hat with Tim Holtz Merriment Tissue Tape and added some Martha Stewart trim.

6.) ON THE SIXTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS my true love gave to me...Six cans of Spam
Directive: Create a project or Buy something incorporating METAL (ie, metal embellies as in Tim Holtz products, aluminum foil used in a project, alter a can, metallic paints, etc.) *I made a Tim Holtz Christmas frame. Here's the instructions on how I made it: a.) Cut figures except for the reindeer using Tim Holtz Dies. Glue on top of a legal-sized cardstock. Cover entire surface with glue.
b.)Apply aluminum foil on top. Press against the edges of the die cuts, so relief images will appear. Apply alcohol ink with felt applicator.
c.)Lightly apply glue on top of figures. Sprinkle Diamond Dust on top.
d.)Cut reindeer and apply clear embossing ink on top. Cover with Bronze UTEE and dry using heat tool so bubbles will appear. Glue on right upper corner. e.)Emphasize the edges of the holly leaves using Stickles. Frame and enjoy. :-)

...Stay tuned for Part Two...

Oh Christmas Tree!

Our My Sheri Crafts Design Team sister Sue gave us the challenge to feature a card with a Christmas tree in it. Lately, I have been making a lot of cards using my Artfully Sent Cartridge. I actually wanted to make the next card, but ended up cutting this, so I decided to go with it. I added a deer that I cut using a Tim Holtz Sizzix die. The Christmas Tree was stamped and cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge and the stamp set that was included in the kit. The beautiful background paper is from Close To My Heart's Yuletide Carol Paper packet. Since I could not resist bling, I just had to add some Sequins Gold Assoirtment. :-D

It's Turkey Time!

Where did time go? We are celebrating an early Thanksgiving at My Sheri Crafts. There is so much to be grateful in life, despite life's challenges. I look back through the years and I feel blessed, surrounded by the people that I love.

I made a two-page layout using Pathfinding paper packet from Close To My Heart. The format is from Reflections Scrapbook Program. I added some Pathfinding Complements, and Sequins Gold Assortment for sparkle. The turkey was cut from the Artiste Cartridge using Scaredy Cat paper packet! at 2 1/2".

We would link to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving at My Sheri Crafts and hope you can join our challenge.

The layout format is from Reflections.

Autumn Abundance

Where did time go? Summer is over a little too soon, but I do welcome the cooler weather.

Our theme for the biweekly challenge is "Autumn Abundance" and I do have the perfect harvest paper for it--Pathfinding from Close To My Heart. It still hints of clear skies with the blue, but there is the feeling of harvest at the same time. I used Kraft paper for the base, and Glacier and Chocolate cardstock for the frames. I added some Pathfinding Complements and Sequins Gold Assortment to add interest to this quick and easy page. The layout design is from Reflections.

Banners And Buntings!

The celebration continues at My Sheri Crafts for our biweekly challenge! Sheri, our team leader came up with the theme, and we're required to feature buntings/banners in our card/project. I got a brand new Cricut Cartridge that I wanted to play with from Close To My Heart the newest released Artfully Sent. There was a card there that was perfect for this challenge. The card base is Crystal Blue cardstock, and the designer papers are from Close To My Heart's Balloon Ride (retired). I added a Balloon Ride Picture My Life card on the front, which I embellished with Gold Shimmer Trim. The resin flower at the right lower corner is from Ivy lane Assortment (retired). I added some Bling Gems Gold Assortment to bring attention the sentiment and to hold the banner up inside the pop up card.

Happy, Happy Birthday to the Caped Crusader!

Design Team sister Raquel is hosting our Birthday Celebrations theme at My Sheri Crafts, which is a wonderful coincidence since my little boy will turn 3 on the 19th of this month! He will be the Caped Crusader for a day, and in keeping with the theme, I made invitations with matching envelopes, Thank You cards, gift bags and matching decorations to fit the theme. Using the Batman Cricut cartridge, I cut the invitation at 5 1/2". The envelope was made by folding over a piece of Black Cardstock measuring 6"x12". I closed off the edges with Tim Holtz tissue tape and glued on the bat cutouts from the invitation. I altered the blue gift bags that I got from Michaels with a Batman emblem, cut at 2" using the Plantin' Schoolbook cartridge. The bat is from once again, the Batman cartridge, cut at 3 1/2", at real dial size off. I used Black, Slate and Pacifica Cardstock from Close To My Heart mixed in with a darker blue and bright yellow cardstock from Core'dinations.

Celebrate The Piano

Design team sister Sarah is hosting our biweekly challenge this time around, and the prerequisite for the challenge is to come up with a music-related project in celebration of Piano Month this September. I was inspired by Liberace when I made this card.

I used designer paper from Prima Marketing, and added the piano (cut at 2 1/2") and sentiment (cut at 2") cut using A Child's Life and Lyrical Letters Cricut cartridges. I embossed the Champagne Cardstock using a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The Gold Shimmer Trim, and small Black Flourish, and Gold Sequins are all from Close To My Heart.

Be An Angel...

August 22 is "Be An Angel Day", and sure enough, our biweekly theme at My Sheri Crafts is all about angels! I made this card using the Sing Glory Close To My Heart stamp set, inked with Glacier Exclusive Ink. I used Juniper Cardstock for the snowflakes and Slate Cardstock for the Background, which I embossed using a Cuttlebug folder. I wanted bling in the card, so I added some Sparkles Clear Assortment. The snowflakes were cut at 1" and the border was cut at 7 1/2" at read dial size using the Arbooking Cricut cartridge.

Halloween Pop Up Box Card

Box cards have been so popular for a while, so I decided to give it a try, thanks to the Splitcoastampers tutorial. I used theScaredy Cat paper packet from Close To My Heart, and the layout patterns from Reflections. The stamp set is from Halloween Greetings, stamped using Thistle, Black and Sunset Exclusive Ink.

I added Black Striped Twill Ribbon and a border with a bat design to the outside of the card.

Christmas in July

DT sister Sue challenged us with a Christmas in July theme this week and I would like to send her a virtual hug since Christmas is my favorite holiday and if it were up to me, I'd celebrate it everyday. Another requirement for the project is for it to have layers:-D
This picture was taken a couple of Christmases ago. I put on an identical Santa hat on the baby who was not too happy having his pic taken with Santa at his workshop. We had a good pic before the tears started falling.
I used paper from Webster's Pages from their Waiting For Santa paper pack. The paper was so beautiful and I felt that it would be a shame to cover it up, so I came up with this layout design with that in mind. I had hoarded that paper for four long years and I am not embarrassed to admit that. lol! The puffy damask stickers were given to me by Jeri, and the sentiment Believe" was cut from the Cricut Artbooking cartridge using Ruby Cardstock. I added some Sparkles Black Flourishes from Close To My Heart to make the layout more festive.

A Fun Summer Paperdoll

Design team sister Raquel from My Sheri Crafts challenged us with a "Food, food and more food!" theme. Part of the challenge was to create a project that features any type of food cuts or embellishments. I made a birthday card with a detachable paperdoll and outfits featuring cupcakes and a glass of juice. Now how yummy is that? :-) I used strips of Lollydoodle paper packet that I punched out so as to create scallops. I could not decide which patterns to use, so why not all of them, right? :-) The sentiment is from Cricut Artiste Birthday, stamped using Desert Sand Exclusive Ink. I mounted it on a small piece of rectangle Kraft cardstock. The stamped images from Paper Doll were colored using Copic markers.

A Star Is Born

Our challenge at My Sheri Crafts is to create a project with at least two stars in it for our "A Star Is Born" theme. I have been playing with the My Crush Bluebird book, so I decided to share a page. The My Crush books are Close To My Heart's answers to the popular Smash books. I have been using the My Crush album more like a simplified mini album than a junk journal, which is what it's originally meant for. The background paper is from the Skylark paper packet. I added a bird from Skylark Assortment, and punched a star border using a Martha Stewart punch. I layered a strip of Teal Shimmer trim on top of the vertical border. The "A Star Is Born" sentiment and the star arrows are from The Artbooking Cricut Bundle, stamped using Lagoon Ink.
This is the first page...I have 29 more to go.

Three In A Row Challenge

DT sister Sue gave us a tic-tac-toe theme for the biweekly challenge at My Sheri Crafts. Here's a picture of the grid:
Since the challenge name is "three in a row", I made three coordinating cards using the tic-tac-toe format. :-D Top right, top to bottom: embossed paper, pearls, flowers--
Middle row: pattern paper, image, pearls--
Bottom row: paper piecing, die cut, flowers--
For these cards, I used the Sparkling Spring and Botanical paper pack from Prima, pearl flourishes from Prima, die cut frames cut using Spellbinders dies, and the leafy flourish was cut using Cheery Lynn die. The images of the ladies are from Kanban stamps, colored using Copic markers. The white silk flowers were a "jackpot find" from Goodwill.

A Masculine Layout for My Sheri Crafts

My 2 year old is all boy. He loved gadgets and anything to do with technology even when he was a baby. One time, Daddy left his USB for his Iphone plugged in the computer. It probably looked delicious, so the baby promptly put it in his mouth. The monitor displayed this message: "Error, unrecognizable device". I think he was trying to download something. lol! For this layout, I used Pro Player Paper Packet, Pro Player My Stickease Assortment and Durable Triangle Studs. I used the Front Center Trio layout pattern in page 70 of My Reflections Scrapbook Program .

A Card For Dad

We have an "Anything Masculine" challenge at My Sheri Crafts, hosted by design team sister Sandy.  Well it's Dad's turn to be celebrated, so I decided to make a card for Father's Day.  I used Chocolate cardstock for the base, and made a stamped collage using the My Hero stamp set, an exclusive hostess incentive from Close to My Heart. I cut the frames using some Spellbinders dies.  The background was stamped with Bamboo ink, and the sentiment and main image was stamped using Chocolate ink.  I added Baker's twine and some Durable Triangle Studs to complete the simple, masculine card.
Happy Father's Day to my hubby, to Dad and all the Dads out there!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Design team sister Sarah gave us the challenge to use at least three flowers on our project.  I altered a couple of canvases from the dollar store and came up with a Paris theme.  The first canvas has a Marie Antoinette theme.  I used paper from DCWV, Prima flowers and pop-dotted a cake sticker from Webster's Pages.  The edges have flouncy stretch lace trim from my stash.  The centers of the large flowers are from Recollections.  The third flower on the design is found in Marie Antoinette's fascinator. :-)  I cut the Eiffel tower at 8 1/2" using the Summer in Paris Cricut cartridge.
The second canvas also has the 8 1/2" Eiffel tower but this time around, I used Graphic 45's French Country 12x12 paper and chipboard.  I fussy cut the flowers, added some micro beads from Martha Stewart, added Stickles to accent the Eiffel tower and glued some photo corners from Tim Holtz.  This piece now resides in Barb's home. :-)
